Sent off at odds of 7-1, Glory Vase (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) sat a midfield trip beneath Joao Moreira, crept into the race on the turn and stormed through the final 300 meters to score a 3 1/2-length victory over compatriot Lucky Lilac (Jpn) (Orfevre {Jpn}) in Sunday’s G1 Longines Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin. Defending champion Exultant (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) was forced to make the running from gate 14, but gave way late to finish a good third. Deirdre (Jpn) (Harbinger {GB}) came from last to finish fourth ahead of Called To The Bar (Ire) (Henrythenavigator) in fifth. Lifetime Record: 10-4-3-0. O-Silk Racing Co Ltd; B-Lake Villa Farm; T-T Ozeki.
