Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 8, 2019 Journalists Share Posted December 8, 2019 Never out of the frame in his 22 previous career starts, Beat The Clock (Aus) (Hinchinbrook {Aus}) made it two wins on HKIR day for jockey Joao Moreira, digging down late to prove narrowly best in Sunday’s G1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin. Aethero (Aus) (Sebring {Aus}), the 2-5 favorite, pinged the gate for Zac Purton and looked to have things his own way as two-time defending champ Mr Stunning (Aus) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) did the chasing from Hot King Prawn (Aus) (Denman {Aus}), with the eventual winner three back on the rails. Aethero cruised into the stretch, but Purton began to get busy on the chalk and Beat the Clock hit his best stride in the final half-furlong to be up on the wire. Hot King Prawn made it a John Size 1-2, just touching Aethero out of second. Mr Stunning held fourth just ahead of Full of Beauty (Aus) (Darci Brahma {NZ}). Lifetime Record: 23-9-8-6. O-Merrick Chung Wai Lik; B-Miss J Henderson (NSW); T-John Size.
