Ortiz’s 29 wins during the stand included Empressof the Nile (Pioneerof the Nile)’s win in the Nov. 3 Zagora S. “You need the horses first and you need the help from the trainers and owners, and they give me the help. If they give me the horses, I can win races,” said Ortiz. “Without them, it wouldn’t be possible.” Brown won 17 races at the fall meet to earn his fourth consecutive New York Racing Assocition trainer’s title. Klaravich Stables finished as the top owner for the fifth consecutive meet. Drawing Away Stable had two winners Sunday to draw even with Klaravich and tie for the owner’s title with nine wins apiece.
