In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Chukyo and Hanshin Racecourses, including the first Japanese runner for Honor Code:

Sunday, December 15, 2019
6th-HSN, ¥13,400,000 ($122k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400m
QUEEN’S V V (JPN) (f, 2, Honor Code–V V Goodnight, by Midnight Lute) is the first foal for her dam, runner-up in the 2014 GIII Pucker Up S. and purchased with this foal in utero for $360K at the 2016 Keeneland November sale. V V Goodnight is a half-sister to GSW Gleam of Hope (City Zip) and SW Forest Princess and has since produced a filly by Screen Hero (Jpn) and a colt by Heart’s Cry (Jpn). She was most recently bred back to the latter. B-Kosho Bokujo

7th-HSN, ¥13,720,000 ($125k), Allowance, 2yo, 1800m
IMMORTAL SMOKE (c, 2, Into Mischief–Bellini Sunrise, by Machiavellian) graduated by three lengths at first asking in September (see below, gate 2) ahead of a fifth in the competitive Plantanus Sho allowance the following month and a similar effort when trying turf for the first time Nov. 30. The $375K KEESEP graduate, back on the dirt here, is out of a daughter of SW & MGISP Harbour Club (Danzig), dam of MSW/MGSP Holzmeister (Woodman) and granddam of GISW Game Face (Menifee). B-Edward A Seltzer & Beverly Anderson (KY)

10th-CKO, ¥19,000,000 ($174k), Allowance, 2yo, 1400m
HERRSCHAFT (c, 2, Will Take Charge–Love Ava Love, by Mr. Greeley) turned in a respectable debut effort, finishing fourth over nine furlongs at Hanshin Sept. 15 and most recently cut back to this trip to graduate by four lengths at Kyoto Nov. 24 (see below, gate 9). Descending from Canadian Horse of the Year Alywow (Alydar), Herrschaft was a $110K KEENOV weanling that matured into a $200K KEESEP yearling. B-Colts LLC (KY)
