The 7-year-old chestnut, who first made headlines as the vanquisher of eventual Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) in a 2-year-old maiden at Del Mar, went on to win four graded black-type events, including the GII Del Mar Derby and GII Twilight Derby, and finish second or third in 13 more graded stakes, including two editions of the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. The Sareen Family Trust colorbearer retires with earnings of more than $1.3 million. “I have had my eye on this horse for years, and feel he is a perfect fit for California,” said Harris Farms chairman John Harris. Om will stand for $7,500 live foal.
