Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 31, 2019 Journalists Share Posted December 31, 2019 Trainer Chad Brown took home his fifth-consecutive New York Racing Association training title, jockey Manny Franco secured his second-straight NYRA year-end riding title and owner Klaravich Stables was the circuit’s leading owner in 2019. Brown saddled 142 winners from 552 starters (25.7%) between Saratoga, Belmont and Aqueduct for earnings of $15.62 million–exceeding his previous high mark set in 2018. Seth Klarman’s Klaravich Stables, one of Brown’s main owners, won 57 races on the NYRA circuit from 196 tries (29.1%), racking up $5.18 million. Klaravich won outright or shared five of the six NYRA individual meet titles in 2019. Franco won two individual meet titles in 2019, and 212 races at NYRA tracks from 1274 mounts (16.6%). His mounts bankrolled more than $14.6 million. “I’m very thankful,” said the 25-year-old native of Puerto Rico. “I have to thank all the trainers and owners for putting me on these good horses, as well as my agent [Hall of Fame jockey Angel Cordero, Jr.], who has also helped me a lot during my career and especially this year. It’s a big accomplishment.
