Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 1, 2020 Journalists Share Posted January 1, 2020 A half-interest in Maximum Security (New Year’s Day) has been purchased by Coolmore, according to Dave Grening in a story posted on Daily Racing Form Wednesday morning. According to the report, Maximum Security will race until the end of his four-year-old year, and then be retired to Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky. The report says that Gary West responded to Grening with a text message Tuesday night which read, “I can confirm that Coolmore has purchased a half-interest in both the racing and breeding rights of Maximum Security. There will be no other announcements until Maximum Security is retired.” According to Coolmore, there will be no announcement on the part of the farm. Maximum Security has won seven of his nine starts, and is the leading contender to be named champion three-year-old after three Grade I wins in 2019, including his recent romp in the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct Dec. 7.
