Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 11, 2020 Journalists Share Posted January 11, 2020 Melbourne-trained three-year-old He’ll Haunt Us has claimed the opening race on Magic Millions day. Melbourne gelding He’ll Haunt Us completed a long-range plan when he won the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden at the Gold Coast. He’ll Haunt Us ($5.50) was suited by a fast early pace before storming home to beat Hulk ($7) by a half length with another half to Playthefield ($51) in third. He’ll Haunt Us gave the Mick Price-Michael Kent Jnr partnership its first Queensland winner. Price said there were no big plans for He’ll Haunt Us and his main mission had been to win the $250,000 maiden. “They don’t come along every day and we have been looking at this race for a while,” he said. He’ll Haunt Us was a $150,000 buy for the Roll The Dice Racing syndicate and was bought for them by renowned bloodstock agent John Foote. Champion jockey Damien Oliver timed his run from the top of the straight but wasn’t that confident in the run. “He got a bit lost on the turn but once he flattened out he was too strong,” Oliver said. James McDonald said his mount Hulk had looked the winner at the 200m but the winner had been too strong. Michael Rodd said Paythefield had also ran home well and was near a win.
