Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 12, 2020 Journalists Share Posted January 12, 2020 The major part of the Magic Millions Yearling sale at the Gold Coast has produced records. Book One of the Magic Millions sale has ended with a record gross and sale average for the four days at the Gold Coast. There were 10 million dollar plus yearlings sold in the first three days with a Redoute’s Choice colt fetching $900,000 at the final session on Saturday night. The $900,000 colt confirmed Arrowfield Stud as the leading vendor with their 54 lots selling for almost $16 million. Arrowfield produced the sale-topper, a Deep Impact colt from stakes winner Honesty Prevails who sold for $1.9 million. The auction also raised $1.1 million for bushfire relief from various activities including $500 from all vendors who sold yearlings. Across the four days the gross was 177,407,000 for 709 lots sold at an average of $250,221. The clearance rate sits at over 87 per cent. “It’s been an amazing sale really,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said. “It’s just a fantastic result. For the first time ever to have a quarter of a million average at this sale, given the sale has 888 lots in it, it’s an awesome result.” “Leading into the sale, a lot of the buyers were very positive about the catalogue.” Book Two begins on Sunday.
