Champion I’ll Have Another (Flower Alley–Arch’s Gal Edith, by Arch)’s first two North American foals have arrived.

The first was dropped Jan. 14 at Rancho San Miguel. The 2020 filly is out of the winning mare Year of Light by Event of the Year. She was bred by Jacqueline Bousquet and Dr. Jeaneen Metzler.

She was followed shortly on Jan. 15 by a filly born at Ballena Vista Farm, out of the Tribal Rule broodmare Jennifer’s Joy bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema and Richard Tillema. Jennifer’s Joy is from the immediate family of millionaire Richard’s Boy (Idiot Proof).

The duo are from the first domestic crop of 3-year-old champion I’ll Have Another, winner of the GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S. I’ll Have Another began his breeding career in Japan at Big Red Farm and was repatriated by Ballena Vista Farm for stud duty in California.

Farm manager Miguel Jimenez said of the Jennifer’s Joy Filly, “I love the profile, bone and body on this very pretty 4-hour-old filly, as good a foal as I’ve seen in my 30+ years of raising racehorses.”
