ABYSSINIAN (f, 2, Cairo Prince–Shesakitty, by Tapit) gave her freshman sire (by Pioneerof the Nile) his first winner with a wire-to-wire romp as the 3/5 chalk in the Belmont opener Saturday. Left in to meet the starter after entrymate Romani (Daaher) scratched, the filly jetted straight to the front and cut out a quarter-mile in :22.30 in the clear. Never threatened, she reported home in hand, crossing the wire six lengths clear of Mertz (Ghostzapper). The final time for five furlongs in the slop was :59.44. Sales History: $70,000 yrl KEESEP ’17. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $60,000.
