Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 1, 2020 Journalists Share Posted February 1, 2020 A market firmer at odds just shy of 6-1, CLIVETTY (f, 3, Into Mischief–Rosemonde, by Indian Charlie), the $900,000 topper from last year’s OBS June Sale, caboosed the field for the opening five furlongs, but found her best stride in upper stretch and raced past pacesetting Eyes Open (Street Sense) to break her maiden at first asking Saturday afternoon at Santa Anita. Available at 10-1 early days as My Happy Girl (American Pharoah) was taking all the pari-mutuel action, Clivetty settled at 59-10 at the off and dropped herself out to last as Eyes Open set a decent pace. She needed to be coaxed along by Joel Rosario on the turn, but Clivetty began to warm up to the task nearing the stretch and finished best of all for a narrow victory. Also a $375,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, Clivetty-a full-sister to this owner’s MGISP Rowayton-was bought back on a bid of $400,000 at OBS March. Given a bit more time to mature, the Mar. 20 foal was re-routed for OBS June and topped the sale after breezing a quarter in :20 4/5. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0. O-OXO Equine; B-H Allen Poindexter (KY); T-Don Chatlos.
