Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 1, 2020 Journalists Share Posted February 1, 2020 MAX PLAYER (c, 3, Honor Code–Fools In Love, by Not For Love) had to do it pretty tough, but nevertheless overcame a wide trip to prove best in Saturday’s GIII Withers S. at Aqueduct. Appearing to resent the kickback just a bit when racing inside and mid-division rounding the first turn, Max Player traveled four and five away from the inside down the backstretch as GII Remsen S. hero Shotski (Blame) showed the way up front. Flushed out a bit on the second turn by Monday Morning Qb (Imagining), who did not begin well, Max Player was about five deep at the entrance to the stretch, and although Shotski boxed on bravely in his sophomore debut, Max Player capitalized on his fitness advantage to prevail. Portos (Tapit) came from the clouds to just touch Monday Morning Qb out of third. Max Player becomes the first stakes winner for Honor Code (by A.P. Indy) and is bred on the same cross over Not For Love responsible for dual Classic winner California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit). Lifetime Record: 3-2-1-0. O-George Hall; B-K & G Stables (KY); T-Linda Rice.
