Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 17, 2020 Journalists Share Posted February 17, 2020 Taraz (Into MIschief), a three-year-old filly undefeated in three lifetime starts, was euthanized after a training accident at Oaklawn Monday morning, according to a statement from Juddmonte Farm. “Taraz severely fractured her left front pastern this morning in a workout at Oaklawn Park,” the statement read. “She was transported back to the barn where X-rays were taken and reviewed, with the attending veterinarian consulting Dr. Bob Hunt of Hagyard. Given the extreme nature of the damage to the bone and compromise to the blood supply, it was agreed that repair was impractical. Having consulted between trainer Brad Cox, veterinarians and Juddmonte management it was deemed best to euthanize the filly.” Taraz began her career for trainer Brad Cox Nov. 14, 2019 at Churchill Downs with a 7 1/2-length maiden win, for which she earned a `TDN Rising Star.’ She returned in the Letellier Memorial S. Dec. 21 at the Fair Grounds, where she won by 11 1/4 lengths. Stretching out to a mile next out, she won the Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn by 3 3/4. She earned $192,412 over her three starts. Bred by Juddmonte Farms, Taraz is out of the Empire Maker mare Silk Route. Her second dam is SW & G1SP Jibe This story will be updated.
