Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 21, 2020 Journalists Share Posted February 21, 2020 Gerardo Torres will succeed Jaime Parejo as Arqana’s Spanish representative. A sports journalist for 20 years, Torres was appointed director of racing at the Hippodrome de la Zarzuela in Madrid in 2012 and was on the Spanish Jockey Club Committee from 2015 to 2018. Torres campaigned Spanish Classic performer Ariete Arrollador and bred Spanish Oaks winners Opikkopi and Noctalia. “Spain is a nation of top-level sportsmen and aficionados,” said Arqana President Eric Hoyeau. “Their racing history has always been full of twists and turns over the years, so it was essential for Arqana to be represented by someone who knows the different decades of the turf. From North to South, breeders and owners make a lot of effort to promote the turf. In the heart of Spain, La Zarzuela Racecourse is a magical place thanks to its architecture and its enthusiastic clientele. Spanish racing continues to grow and we are delighted to welcome Gerardo to our network of correspondents to accompany us there.” The post Torres Named Arqana Spanish Rep appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
