Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 23, 2020 Journalists Share Posted February 23, 2020 Stablelab, a hand-held, point-of-care diagnostic blood test which provides veterinarians critical information related to equine inflammation in 10 minutes, has been added to the equine offerings of Zoetis, the animal health company announced. The Stablelab hand-held reader detects and quantifies the biomarker Serum Amyloid A (SAA), which is a major, acute phase protein produced by the liver that rapidly and dramatically increases in response to inflammation caused by infection. By measuring SAA, veterinarians can assess the severity of an infection sooner–often, before clinical symptoms start–and are able to monitor the horse’s response over the course of treatment. “Zoetis has always been committed to providing veterinarians and horse owners with new and enhanced solutions to better predict, prevent, detect and treat disease in the animals under their care,” said Jeannie Jeffery, Business Unit Head, U.S. Equine for Zoetis. “The Stablelab test kit broadens our equine offerings with convenient stall-side testing for quickly and accurately detecting a reliable indicator of infection in horses. Point-of-care testing is one of the fastest-growing areas of diagnostics and this test is rapidly becoming a standard of care in equine practice.” The post Stablelab Joins Zoetis Portfolio appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
