Frankel Exacta In The Longines Turf Cup

George Strawbridge’s French-trained Call The Wind (GB) (Frankel {GB}) broke a streak of placed efforts in major contests last year when taking the featured turf race on the Saudi Cup card, the $2.5-million Longines Turf Cup, for the combination of Olivier Peslier and Freddy Head. Sitting well off the pace early, the blaze-faced chestnut needed an opening upon turning for home but when it materialized he gamely pushed through. He opened up by 2 1/2 lengths in the final furlong from Jamie Osborne’s Mekong (GB) (Frankel {GB}), who was running on well late.
