Dark Angel Gelding Another Longshot Winner in Saudi

The first two races on the Saudi Cup card went the way of Bahrain connections after Dark Power (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) posted a 25-1 upset to take the stc 1351 Sprint Cup under Frankie Dettori. This was 30 minutes after 40-1 shot Port Lions (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) took the Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors Cup for Bahrain resident and trainer Fawzi Nass.

Stalking the pace while racing in the three path, Dark Power had 2 1/2 lengths to make up turning into the straight. He drove down the middle of the track to gradually reel in the brave front runner Mubtasim (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}) while favoured Glorious Journey (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) flew late to grab third. It was therefore a trifecta for runners trained in the Middle East.
