Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 5, 2020 Journalists Share Posted March 5, 2020 G1 Vertem Futurity Trophy victor Kameko (Kitten’s Joy) and G2 KPMG Champions Juvenile S. winner Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), at 12-1, are the shortest-priced among the 139 3-year-olds engaged in the June 6 G1 Investec Derby after the first scratching deadline. Mogul is one of 47 entries for trainer Aidan O’Brien, who last year won his record-equaling seventh Derby with Anthony Van Dyck (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). O’Brien’s sons Joseph and Donnacha each field four entries. Joseph O’Brien is a Derby-winning rider, having steered Camelot (GB) and Australia (GB) to victory for his father, while Donnacha O’Brien won the 2018 G1 Investec Oaks on Forever Together (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Godolphin’s champion 2-year-old Pinatubo (Ire) (Shamardal), trained by Charlie Appleby, is the 7-1 favourite for the Derby, but he is not yet entered, nor is Saeed bin Suroor’s unbeaten G3 Autumn S. winner Military March (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), who is 16-1. John Gosden’s ‘TDN Rising Star’ Waldkonig (GB) (Kingman {GB}), a half-brother to last year’s G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Waldgeist (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), is 14-1.
