Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 5, 2020 Journalists Share Posted March 5, 2020 The Shadwell Stable horses currently in training with Kiaran McLaughlin will be moved to Todd Pletcher, Shadwell Vice President and General Manager Rick Nichols announced Thursday. The farm’s statement came in response to Wednesday’s announcement that McLaughlin was retiring from training at the end of this month to become the agent for jockey Luis Saez as of Apr. 1. Nichol’s statement read as follows: “On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan and all of us at Shadwell, we would like to thank Kiaran McLaughlin and his staff for all of the years of hard work and dedication to the horses we have given them to train for Shadwell. Through their efforts, uncountable wonderful memories were created. We completely understand the move that he is making and we wish him well. As Kiaran starts a new chapter in his life, so does Shadwell Stable with Todd Pletcher graciously agreeing to train the horses that Kiaran had been allocated, as well as, future allocations that would have gone Kiaran’s way. We are excited to have Todd join our team!” Shadwell and McLaughlin enjoyed many successes during their partnership. Their top horses together include Hall of Famer Invasor (Arg) (Candy Stripes); GI Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile victor Tamarkuz (Speightstown); Grade I-winning Shadwell stallions Daaher (Awesome Again) and Albertus Maximus (Albert the Great); MGSWs Mohaymen (Tapit) and Qurbaan (Speightstown); and GSW Haikal (Daaher).
