Uncle Mo Colt Pulls Massive Upset in Tampa Bay Derby

King Guillermo (c, 3, Uncle Mo–Slow Sand, by Dixieland Band) parlayed a stalking trip into a runaway shocker at 49-1 odds in Saturday’s GII Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby. Sole Volante (Karakontie {Jpn}) was second; Texas Swing (Curlin) was third.

The final time was 1:42.63.

King Guillermo entered off a third-place finish as the favorite behind Sole Volante in the grassy Pulpit S. at Gulfstream Nov. 30. He finished sixth at first asking in his lone previous try on dirt at Gulfstream last September.

Sales history: $90,000 RNA yrl ’18 KEESEP; $150,000 2yo ’19 OBSAPR.

Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-1.
