Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 8, 2020 Journalists Share Posted March 8, 2020 Super talented ‘TDN Rising Star’ DONNA VELOCE (f, 3, Uncle Mo–Coin Broker {Ire}, by Montjeu {Ire}) kicked off her potential trip to the GI Kentucky Oaks Sunday with a truly dominant romp in the GIII Santa Ysabel S. at Santa Anita. The 1-5 favorite was away awkwardly and forced to bide her time toward the back of the field early. She eventually settled into a more comfortable rhythm while saving ground and creeping up down the backside, and appeared absolutely loaded while traveling in third heading for home. Mounting a three-wide bid into the stretch, she widened at will to streak home six lengths clear of Speech (Mr Speaker) and stop the clock in 1:45.43. Storie Blue (Empire Maker) rallied from far back for third. A head-turning 9 1/4-length winner sprinting here Sept. 28, Donna Veloce was sent immediately to the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies over this same track and trip and came up a neck short as the 22-10 favorite. She again settled for a close second in the GI Starlet S. as the 3-10 chalk at Los Alamitos Dec. 7. Sales history: $450,000 yrl ’18 KEESEP; $800,000 2yo ’19 FTFMAR. O-Kaleem Shah, Inc., Mrs. John Magnier, Michael B. Tabor & Derrick Smith. B-Coin Broker Syndicate (Ky). T-Simon Callaghan.
