Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 10, 2020 Journalists Share Posted March 10, 2020 John Brennan, who was the Standardbred Owners Association of New York Director, passed away Tuesday from Coronavirus. The story was originally reported by DRF Harness. A Standardbred trainer for 40 years, Brennan’s job with the SOA was to represent horsemen at Yonkers Raceway. The New York harness track cancelled racing Tuesday evening, but DRF Harness reported that it was not confirmed if Brennan’s death led to this cancellation. The 69-year-old trained predominantly in New York and New Jersey. Brennan was part-owner and trainer of 2003 Yonkers Trot winner and Hambletonian runner-up Sugar Trader. In addition to his longtime role with the SOA of N.Y., the New Jersey resident was a United States Trotting Association Director for many years.
