Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 14, 2020 Journalists Share Posted March 14, 2020 After a blowout 4 1/4-length allowance victory first off a June layoff Feb. 17, trainer Michael McCarthy looked to Keeneland’s GI Madison S. for a next appearance for Bo Hirsch homebred CE CE (f, 4, Elusive Quality–Miss Houdini, by Belong to Me). Instead, connections took a crack at Saturday’s GI Beholder Mile S. and the homebred filly obliged, overcoming a wide trip and ‘TDN Rising Star’ Hard Not To Love (Hard Spun) by a comfortable three lengths. Drawn outside in the field of seven, Ce Ce was consigned to a five-wide trip around the first turn and raced at least four paths off the inside down the backstretch as Hard Not To Love set a demanding pace. Creeping closer three deep at the half-mile, Ce Ce took the race to the chalk leaving the three-furlong pole, overhauled Hard Not To Love in upper stretch and pulled clear with no measurable retort from the GI La Brea S. winner. Lifetime Record: 5-3-1-0. O/B-Bo Hirsch LLC (KY); T-Mike McCarthy.
