Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 13, 2020 Journalists Share Posted May 13, 2020 Officials on the American Graded Stakes Committee (AGCS) of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) have announced that it will lower certain required minimum purses for graded stakes races for the balance of 2020. In arriving at their decision, the AGCS took into account that the stoppage of racing and the closure of casino operations in North America are negatively impacting purse accounts as well as the ability to fund graded stakes. For the remainder of 2020, the threshold purse money for Grade I races is being lowered from $300,000 to $250,000; and for Grade II races from $200,000 to $150,000. Grade III races continue to be run for at least $100,000, while listed and grade-eligible events will be contested for a minimum of $75,000.
