Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 16, 2020 Journalists Share Posted May 16, 2020 New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave horse racing the green light to resume, without fans, across the state. Race tracks will be allowed to open beginning June 1. “If you can have economic activity without a crowd, that’s great,” said Cuomo at his daily briefing. “We can do that in this state with horse racing tracks and we’re going to do that. There will be guidelines for the actual participants, but no crowds, no fans. For the industry itself and for the televised viewers, that can still work.” A formal announcement issued by the state read, “We will be issuing guidance on how they can open safely in the coming weeks.” Racing in the state was halted Mar. 19. Additional details will be forthcoming.
