Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 26, 2020 Journalists Share Posted May 26, 2020 The Arkansas Racing Commission is awaiting results of split sample tests which could impact results from the May 2 GI Arkansas Derby day card at Oaklawn Park, according to multiple reports. The commission will not comment on which horse or horses tested positive for a banned substance in initial post-race tests until the split sample result is returned. Bernie Hettel, Arkansas’ state steward, told Horse Racing Nation Tuesday he was not legally able to divulge which horses tested positive on the track’s closing-day card or the suspected banned substance. “I can’t do anything until I get that back, and then we’ll proceed per rules from that point on,” Hettel told Horse Racing Nation. Hettel added the results, requested by trainers after initial positives, may be delayed by the pandemic. The Arkansas Derby, run in two divisions, was won by California-based stablemates Nadal (Blame) and Charlatan (Speightstown). Also on the May 2 card at Oaklawn, By My Standards (Goldencents) won the GII Oaklawn H.
