Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 6, 2020 Journalists Share Posted June 6, 2020 The prohibitive post-time favorite at 3-5, SWISS SKYDIVER (f, 3, Daredevil–Expo Gold, by Johannesburg) faced just three rivals in Saturday’s GII Santa Anita Oaks, was given a letter-perfect ride from the front by Mike Smith and easily accounted for Speech (Mr Speaker) to record a third consecutive graded stakes success. With Smith low in the saddle, Swiss Skydiver was asked for early speed from gate one and led them along, but she wasn’t allowed a lonely lead, as Merneith (American Pharoah) pressed from second. With Smith a mere passenger in the irons, Swiss Skydiver easily put the pace-presser away at the three-furlong pole, turned for home under a hold and cruised under the line easy winner as Speech gave game chase. Lifetime Record: 7-4-1-1. O-Peter Callahan; B-WinStar Farm LLC (KY); T-Kenny McPeek.
