The 3-2 favorite to go two-for-two, the bay gelding was off a half-step slowly and trailed the field through fractions of :23.83 and :48.63. Still well back at the top of the lane, he was tipped out to the center of the course and veered in greenly, but once straightened he closed like a shot to just nail Don Juan Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) by a neck on the line. Domestic Spending was purchased for 300,000gns at Tattersalls October in 2018, a year after the same connections purchased GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Newspaperofrecord (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) at that same venue.
