Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 11, 2020 Journalists Share Posted June 11, 2020 The Pennsylvania Department of Health has cleared the way for racing to resume in the state, including with Penn National, which will recommence live racing June 19, according to tweets by the Pennsylvania Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association Thursday. A date for re-opening at Parx is in the works but has yet to be finalized, according to a tweet by the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association. Through the first three weeks, Penn National will race Wednesday and Fridays before moving to a three-day a week schedule thereafter. Overnight purses are expected to return to a pre-shut down structure. The Condition Book will be released shortly. The resumption of racing at Presque Isle Downs is also pending. “We continue to work diligently to get approval for racing to resume at Presque Isle Downs,” stated an HBPA release. “However, the stable area at Presque Isle is made up entirely of shippers since there is no existing horse population. Therefore, Erie County’s color designation under the Governor’s protocols is an important determining factor in regard to the backside opening.” The post Penn National to Resume June 19 appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
