Sent straight to the lead after a sharp getaway, the 93-10 chance enjoyed a healthy advantage until coming under pressure when threatened in early straight and he rallied gamely once headed by Magic Sword (Fr) (Goken {Fr}) approaching the final furlong to subdue that rival and outpoint Sagayan (Fr) (Lucayan {Fr}) by an ultimately comfortable 2 1/2 lengths. Half-brother to a yearling filly by Kingfisher (Ire), he is also the first winner produced by a daughter of GI Del Mar Oaks heroine Dessert (Storm Cat), herself a half-sister to GI Hollywood Derby and GI Breeders’ Cup Turf-winning sire Johar (Gone West).
