Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 27, 2020 Journalists Share Posted June 27, 2020 It was labelled as wide-open, but in the end Saturday’s G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at The Curragh was anything but as Aidan O’Brien collected his 14th renewal as the 2-1 favourite Santiago (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}) led home a stable one-two-three-four. Always travelling with supreme ease anchored towards the rear by Seamie Heffernan, the G2 Queen’s Vase winner enjoyed an ideal split to arrive at the front two out. Challenged by Tiger Moth (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) all the way to the line, he toughed it out to prevail by a head, with Dawn Patrol (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Order of Australia (Ire) (Australia {GB}) beaten five lengths and 1 1/4 lengths respectively.
