Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 10, 2020 Journalists Share Posted July 10, 2020 WAR OF WILL c, 4, War Front–Visions of Clarity {Ire}, by Sadler’s Wells) won for the first time in six starts since landing the 2019 GI Preakness S., overcoming a three-wide, no-cover trip to just be along in time in Friday’s GI Maker’s Mark S. at Keeneland. Drawn widest in the field of 10, the handsome bay raced three off the fence leaving the stretch for the first time and punched the breeze from up close as High Crime (Violence) set a sensible pace at best from Parlor (Lonhro {Aus}). The latter overtook High Crime under a hold as they reached the entrance to the straight, as War of Will bore down to his outside beneath Tyler Gaffalione. Parlor led grimly into the final 50 yards and was looking for the line, but War of Will got home half a head to the good. Favored Raging Bull (Fr) (Dark Angel {Ire}) sat a midfield trip and hit the line with good energy to be third, just in advance of stablemate Without Parole (GB) (Frankel {GB}). War of Will, a $175,000 buyback at Keeneland September in 2017, but sold post RNA, fetched €250,000 at the 2018 Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale. Lifetime Record: 16-5-1-2. O-Gary Barber; B-Flaxman Holdings Ltd (KY); T-Mark Casse.
