Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 16, 2020 Journalists Share Posted July 16, 2020 Country Grammer (c, 3, Tonalist–Arabian Song, by Forestry), third with a wide trip in a salty first-level allowance downstate June 4, delivered a game victory in Thursday’s GIII Peter Pan S. at Saratoga. The 4-1 shot found a good spot along the rail in fourth in the early going. Loaded for bear just behind the leaders rounding the far turn, he shot through an inviting opening along the fence at the top of the stretch and outgamed the comebacking ‘TDN Rising Star’ Caracaro (Uncle Mo) after a long duel to win by a neck. Favored ‘TDN Rising Star’ Mystic Guide (Ghostzapper) was third. The final time for 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.79. Country Grammer becomes the second black-type and second graded winner for young sire Tonalist. Tonalist, of course, parlayed a win in this race in 2014 to a victory in the GI Belmont S. Sales history: $60,000 yrl ’18 KEESEP; $450,000 2yo ’19 OBSAPR. Lifetime Record: 5-2-0-1. O-Paul Pompa Jr.; B-Scott & Debbie Pierce (Ky); T-Chad Brown.
