There were some worrying moments for the legions of fans and connections of Stradivarius (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) in Tuesday’s G1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup, but ultimately it was the familiar outcome as Bjorn Nielsen’s chestnut made it four wins in this historic prize. Short of room on the inner in the last two furlongs, the 4-7 favourite found a gap in time to overhaul the long-time leader Nayef Road (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the last half a furlong and score by a length, with the G1 Irish Derby hero Santiago (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}) 1 1/4 lengths behind in third.
