THOUSAND WORDS (c, 3, Pioneerof the Nile–Pomeroys Pistol, by Pomeroy) earned his first victory since February’s GIII Robert B. Lewis S. after getting loose in the four-horse Shared Belief S. Saturday at Del Mar. Heavy favorite Honor A. P. (Honor Code) could only muster a second-place run after making an early three-wide move to avoid getting stuck too far back. Thousand Words, last seen finishing second behind GI Runhappy Travers S.-bound stablemate Uncle Chuck (Uncle Mo) in the GIII Los Alamitos Derby July 4, crossed the line about a length to the good of Honor A. P. and stopped the clock in 1:43.85. Lifetime Record: 7-4-1-0.
