Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 5, 2020 Journalists Share Posted August 5, 2020 Seen as a vital link to getting youngsters into harness racing, Kidz Kartz is entering a new chapter. Gayleen Mackinnon has taken over as chair of the Kidz Kartz National Council from Trevor Beaton, who’s stood down because of poor health. “We would like to acknowledge Trevor’s outstanding contribution to the council,” says Mackinnon, “and also to thank two originals in Peter Ferguson and Hazel van Opzeeland for their service.” Both recently stepped down from the council. Mackinnon has been involved with Kidz Kartz for more than a decade. A Franklin National Council representative since it started, Mackinnon has been involved in running courses and organizing many national, fund-raising and community events. She’s also been a Kidz Kartz starter at Alexandra Park. The Kidz Kartz National Council started in 2017, and has representatives from each club in the country as well as Harness Racing New Zealand representative Natalie Gameson. Mackinnon is excited about what lies ahead. “I love to see the progression of youth from Kidz Kartz to senior drivers, the pathway is so important to the future of the industry.” The national council members are: Chair : Gayleen MackinnonKumeu : Danny BlakemoreFranklin : Anna StormontWaikato : Tommy HazlettTaranaki : Brendon TowersCanterbury : Steph FaulksOtago : Gabrielle CampbellSouthland : Michelle HortonHRNZ : Natalie Gameson If you want any more information about Kidz Kartz or the details of your local club : https://www.hrnz.co.nz/industry-information/training-and-education/kids-karts/ Or contact : Natalie GamesonEducation & Training Manager | Harness Racing NZ DDI (03) 964 1193 | Mobile (021) 936 155Email Natalie@hrnz.co.nz | Web www.hrnz.co.nzMail PO Box 459 |Christchurch 8140 The post Change of Chair at Kidz Kartz appeared first on BOAY Racing News.
