The sale has drawn 257 yearlings, all of which are eligible for the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes. The Ascot Yearling Sale has established itself as a proven source of value. Since 2019 32 individual 2-year-old winners and nine black-type winners have been sold for an average of £12,500. Among the recent luminaries are last month’s G3 Molecomb S. winner Steel Bull (Ire) (Clodovil {Ire}), purchased for £15,000, and Listed Marwell S. scorer Miss Amulet (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}), whose pricetag was £7,500. Miss Amulet’s half-sister from the first crop of El Kabeir (lot 143) is among this year’s offerings, as is a Gutaifan (Ire) half-sister to another stakes-winning graduate, Flaming Princess (Ire) (Hot Streak {Ire}) (lot 116). They are among the 20 siblings to black-type performers catalogued. There are 96 siblings to 2-year-old winners catalogued and 69 yearlings out of mares who won at two. Leading sire Night Of Thunder (Ire) and Showcasing (GB) have three apiece catalogued, and other leading sires represented include Acclamation (GB), Dandy Man (Ire), Holy Roman Emperor (Ire), Iffraaj (GB) and Zoffany (Ire). Sires to have started well with their first runners this year with representation include Goken (Fr), Adaay (GB), Belardo (Ire), Coulsty (Ire), Estidhkaar (Ire) and Mehmas (Ire).
