When the hot favourite Tavidance (NZ) (Tavistock) trotted home by six lengths for Jamie Kah home to the delight of punters in the fourth race at Flemington, training partners Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr had made if four wins from four runners across Moe and Flemington.

The duo sent two horses to the Moe meeting and both maidens Odeum and Gypsy Choice saluted before a similar scenario played out at Flemington.

Three-year-old filly Cafe Rizu, was then lifted over the line by Damien Oliver to score in the $135,000 Coffee Roasters Plate (1800m) for three-year-olds.

Kah then rated the favourite Tavidance to perfection, parking him in behind a generous speed, to score a most impressive win in the A$125,000 Seppelt Wines Trophy (1720m) at benchmark 84 level.

Michael Kent Jnr said Tavidance was simply not himself when a last-start failure, so he was thrilled to see the horse bounce back for a soft victory.

“I think, last time, he was not himself,” he said. “He had an off day. When he won at Caulfield the time prior, you don’t see horses pull up that well. He’s a very clean winded horse.

“It worked out so well. Rolling tempo, soft track, they opened up which allowed him to get off the fence which was always our concern. The way he went on with it was impressive.”

Kah said: “He’s just a different horse when he gets a bit more room.

“Last start he got a bit of a bump and he’s such a big, raw horse that I think that brought him undone. Today he just in a beautiful rhythm, in his own world and he showed just how talented he is.

“He doesn’t like a stop-start tempo, he likes room and he likes the track when it’s on the softer side.”
