Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 9, 2020 Journalists Share Posted August 9, 2020 WESTON (g, 2, Hit It a Bomb–Elke, by Dixie Union) was the first winner for his freshman sire (by War Front) and is now his first black-type winner with a gritty score in the GIII Best Pal S. at Del Mar. A debut winner at Santa Anita June 21, he was given a 5-1 chance here. Breaking alertly alongside Girther (), he dueled that rival through a :22.78 opening quarter and they were joined by heavily favored Roderick () through a :46.44 half-mile. Roderick dropped out of it at the top of the lane, leaving Girther and Weston to battle it out with Weston getting a narrow victory. Ambivalent (Constitution) crossed the line third, but was disqualified for interfering with fourth-place Sonic Brees (Maclean’s Music). Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O-Ryan Hanson & Chris Drakos; B-EVADI Farm Team (KY); T-Ryan Hanson.
