Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 17, 2020 Journalists Share Posted August 17, 2020 Godolphin’s MG1SW Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), who defeated dual G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) when last seen in the G1 Coral-Eclipse S. at Sandown in early July, faces just five opponents in the G1 Juddmonte International S. at York on Aug. 19. However, four of the quintet have also won at the highest level. Ghaiyyath faces the Qatar Racing pair of MG1SW Kameko (Kitten’s Joy), who won the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas this term, as well as G3 Musidora S. heroine Rose of Kildare (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}), brilliant G1 Prince of Wales’s S. victor Lord North (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), MG1SW Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), and German Group 1 winner Aspetar (Fr) (Al Kazeem {GB}). “We had a front-runner in Meydan [in the G3 Dubai Millennium S. in February] thinking we’d be happy to take a lead, but they just aren’t quick enough to be able to lead him,” Appleby told the QIPCO British Champions Series of this year’s G1 Coronation Cup S. and G1 Coral-Eclipse S. hero. “As a 3-year-old, he also had a pacesetter [Stage Magic (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire})] in the [G3] Prix du Prince d’Orange and we sat in behind him, but he could only do it for so long. “If something wants to go a gallop and we can sit in behind, we’d be just as happy. He’s got a long stride and it’s more a matter of letting him get into his own comfortable rhythm.” The post Ghaiyyath One of Six in Juddmonte International appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
