Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 3, 2020 Journalists Share Posted September 3, 2020 King Guillermo (Uncle Mo), winner of this season’s GII Tampa Bay Derby, will miss an intended date in this Saturday’s GI Kentucky Derby because of a fever, confirmed to trainer Juan Avila Thursday. “Unfortunately, we will not be this Saturday at the Kentucky Derby, a fever yesterday afternoon took us away from this great dream. First is the health of our King Guillermo, who will be ready to show that he is one of the best in the country sooner rather than later.” A winner in his second career start going a mile over the Gulfstream Park West turf last November, the bay was third in Gulfstream’s Pulpit S. in November prior to his win in Tampa. Most recently, he finished second behind Nadal (Blame) in the May 2 GI Arkansas Derby.
