This season’s 2-year-old filly scene in Ireland has been dominated by the duo Shale (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Pretty Gorgeous (Fr) (Lawman {Fr}) and it was Donnacha’s Shale who made the score 2-1 in Sunday’s G1 Moyglare Stud S. at The Curragh.  Having beaten John Oxley’s TDN Rising Star in the G3 Silver Flash S. at Leopardstown Aug. 6, Shale had come off second-best in the Aug. 22 course-and-distance G2 Debutante S. but was able to subdue her chief foe on this livelier surface. Settled behind the Coolmore pace-setter early by Ryan Moore, the 9-2 second favourite was in front passing two out and headed briefly by the 11-10 favourite a furlong later. Battling back, she was in front by 3/4 of a length at  the line, with Oodnadatta (Ire) (Australia {GB}) 1 3/4 lengths back in third.
