Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 2, 2020 Journalists Share Posted October 2, 2020 New York-bred SIMPLY RAVISHING (f, 2, Laoban-Four Wishes, by More Than Ready) remained unbeaten in her three career starts to date, leading every step of the way in Friday’s GI Darley Alcibiades S. at Keeneland to earn a fees-paid berth in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies over the same course and distance in five weeks’ time. Off as the second favorite, with about $8,000 less wagered on her than her stablemate and ‘TDN Rising Star’ Crazy Beautiful (Liam’s Map), the $50,000 Fasig-Tipton October yearling purchase made the lead from her outside stall without having to work overly hard for it and set an easy pace along the rail beneath Luis Saez. Crazy Beautiful sat the trip from second throughout, but when push came to shove after six furlongs in a very manageable 1:12.94, Simply Ravishing went through her gears, finishing full of run to score by the better part of six lengths. Crazy Beautiful won the battle for second with fellow ‘Rising Star’ Travel Column (Frosted), who missed the break by about a length, made a middle move up the inside to reach contention entering the final three furlongs and stayed on for third. A one-length maiden winner over the Saratoga turf going long Aug. 1, Simply Ravishing was allowed to take her chance in the P.G. Johnson S. when it was rained onto the Saratoga main track at seven furlongs and romped home by 6 1/2 lengths, becoming her freshman sire (by Uncle Mo)’s first black-type winner. Lifetime Record: 3-3-0-0. O-Harold Lerner, Magdalena Racing & Nehoc Stables; B-Meg Levy (NY); T-Ken McPeek.
