It was a home success in Sunday’s G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as Peter Brant’s Sottsass (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) provided Jean-Claude Rouget with a first renewal of the showpiece as Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) failed to fire in sixth. Third as a 3-year-old last year, the chestnut who warmed up for his bid with a fourth in the G1 Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown Sept. 12 sat third on the rail early as Persian King (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) led at a moderate tempo. Delivered by Cristian Demuro to lead with a furlong remaining, the 7-1 shot held on by a neck from In Swoop (Ire) (Adlerflug {Ger}), with Persian King 1 3/4 lengths away in third.
