Plum Ali (f, 2, First Samurai-Skipping, by Stroll) remained unbeaten with a two-length victory as the even-money favorite in the GII Miss Grillo S. at Belmont Park Sunday. The chestnut filly was last through an opening quarter in :24.81, but moved up along the hedge and was within striking distance of the leader after a half in :48.06. She reeled in the pacesetter turning for home, struck the lead at the top of the lane and was pulling away to the wire. The time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:42.03.
Plum Ali opened her career with a two-length victory going 1 1/16 miles over the Saratoga lawn July 23 and overcame a troubled start to win the Sept. 7 Mint Juvenile Fillies S. at Kentucky Downs last time out. Lifetime Record: 3-3-0-0.
