Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 10, 2020 Journalists Share Posted October 10, 2020 ‘ TDN Rising Star’ NASHVILLE (c, 3, Speightstown-Veronique, by Mizzen Mast) not only repeated, but improved upon his impressive debut with an even more dazzling victory in his first try against winners Saturday at Keeneland. The $460,000 KEESEP buy ran away with his career bow in the slop at Saratoga Sept. 2, going wire-to-wire for an 11 1/2-length graduation. He displayed a string of speedy works in the interim, including a pair of bullets, most recently covering three panels in :36 1/5 (1/4) at Keeneland Oct. 5. Hammered down to 1-2 favoritism for his second start, the bay ran the field off their feet right from the start. Jumping out to a clear lead, Nashville was well within himself as he zipped through opening splits of :22.18 and :45.06. Showing the way into the lane, the Steve Asmussen pupil cruised home under a motionless Ricardo Santana, Jr. to win as he pleased by double-digit lengths in 1:09.10. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O-China Horse Club, Inc. and WinStar Farm; B-Breffni Farm (KY); T-Steve Asmussen.
