Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 10, 2020 Journalists Share Posted October 10, 2020 HARVEY’S LIL GOIL (f, 3, AmericanPharoah–Gloria S, by Tapit) became the first Grade I winner for her Triple Crown-winning sire American Pharoah with a gutsy score in the GII QEII Challenge Cup S. at Keeneland Saturday. Dispatched at 7-2, the gray broke well from her inside post and kept the pressure on Sweet Melania (American Pharoah) from second through a first half-mile in :47.75. Turning the heat up a bit, she drew even as three-quarters went in 1:12.16 and took control as that rival threw in the towel in early stretch. Harvey’s Lil Goil held off a slew of attackers in the lane to win by a half-length. Micheline (Bernardini) was the runner-up. Graduating at second asking on the dirt at Aqueduct last December, Harvey’s Lil Goil won the nine-panel Busanda S. on that venue’s main track in February. Failing to fire when 11th to GI Preakness S. heroine Swiss Skydiver (Daredevil) in the GIII Fantasy S. May 2, the Bill Mott trainee captured the GIII Regret S. when switched to the turf June 27 and was third in the 10-furlong GI Alabama S. back on the Saratoga main track Aug. 15. She entered off a close second behind Micheline in the Dueling Ground Oaks Sept. 10. Lifetime Record: 8-4-1-1. O-Estate of Harvey Clarke & Paul Braverman; B-Harvey Clarke (KY); T-Bill Mott.
