Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 17, 2020 Journalists Share Posted October 17, 2020 With the ground very testing for Ascot’s Qipco British Champions Day on Saturday, a confirmed mud-lover stepped forward to master the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. in Al Asayl France’s The Revenant (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}). Sent off the 5-1 second favourite to go one better than 12 months ago, the chestnut who had only re-appeared this season a fortnight previously when winning the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at ParisLongchamp tracked the slow early pace set by Roseman (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) before tackling that 28-1 shot inside the final two furlongs. Edging ahead a furlong from home, he answered Pierre-Charles Boudot’s every call to gain a head verdict, with 3 1/4 lengths back to the 8-11 favourite Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}) in third.
