Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 17, 2020 Journalists Share Posted October 17, 2020 A late market drifter, but nevertheless the 8-5 favorite for Saturday’s GII Lexus Raven Run S., VENETIAN HARBOR (f, 3, Munnings–Sounds of the City, by Street Cry {Ire}) was able to secure an easy lead beneath Manny Franco, doled out a very soft pace and held off a rejuvenated Finite (Munnings) to score Saturday at Keeneland. Making her first appearance since finishing the distant runner-up to Gamine (Into Mischief) in the GI Longines Test S. at Saratoga Aug. 8, Venetian Harbor made the front with a minimum of fuss and was allowed an easy time of it on the engine, posting fractions of :23.06 for the opening quarter and :46.17 for the half. Asked to sprint once heads were turned for home, Venetian Harbor opened up and was clear into the final furlong, but needed the wire, as Finite rallied up the fence, only to fall just short. Part-owner Joe Ciaglia confirmed that a return to Keeneland is in the cards for the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint in three weeks’ time. Sales history: $110,000 Ylg ’18 KEESEP.
